The audiotour, which takes you to 18 stops around Mdina, is conducted by a highly entertaining character: Baron Phillippe Caxaro d’Antonio Murina della Verga, who claims to be the oldest remaining member of one of the oldest remaining noble families in Mdina, and is certainly the most pompous. The Baron is an appalling snob, who regards everyone from Napoleon to the Phoenicians as either “an upstart” or “not quite the thing”. But his love for his home city and his pride in his native land – and his detailed knowledge of its history - are always evident.
